MULTAN, Jul 24 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted a successful raid on a beverage manufacturing plant in Industrial Estate Phase-1, Multan, and discarded 4000 litres of substandard flavoured beverages.
The operation was part of ongoing campaign against the production of substandard and adulterated drinks.
During the operation, the PFA Food Safety team seized and destroyed 4,000 litres of substandard flavoured beverages, which were found to be prepared using artificial and low-quality flavours. The plant owners were fined Rs 50,000 for multiple violations of food safety regulations.
According to DG PFA Muhammad Asim Javed, the cold drinks were being manufactured in highly unhygienic conditions. The raw materials and fruit pulp were stored improperly, and the substandard beverages were intended for sale in the local market.
Strict action would continue without any interruption against those endangering public health,” stated DG Muhammad Asim Javed. “Providing the public with safe and quality food was top priority,” he added.
