MULTAN, Jul 09 (APP):In a continued crackdown on food adulteration, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted large-scale inspections across Multan, Khanewal, and Vehari, penalising violators and discarding hundreds of litres of substandard products.
The operations were carried out under the special directives of Director General Muhammad Asim Javed.
PFA’s food safety teams inspected several food outlets, including milk shops, khoya units, soda water factories, bakeries, hotels, and ice factories. Heavy fines were imposed for violations of food safety regulations, and 300 liters of adulterated milk were confiscated and destroyed.
In Multan, two ice factories located in Sikandarabad and Danday Wali Pul (Shah Rukn-e-Alam) were fined Rs. 25,000 each for poor sanitation and pest infestation in production areas.
A snacks manufacturing unit in Musa Pak colony was fined Rs. 50,000 for incomplete product labeling and lack of labeling on oil drums.
Three milk shops in Gulistan Chowk, T Chowk Shalimar Colony, and Faiz Aam Chowk were fined a total of Rs. 35,000 for selling adulterated milk.
At Multan road Interchange (Kabirwala), a hotel was fined Rs. 10,000 after dead flies were found in the freezer and food was stored without proper covering.
In Abdul Hakeem, a milk collection unit was fined Rs. 10,000 for selling substandard milk, while a tuck shop was fined the same amount for stocking expired snacks.
In Kalama chowk, Mian Channu, a bakery was fined Rs. 20,000 after starch was found in milk bottles and stale food was discovered in the freezer.
At Main Chowk Adda Kachi Pakki, a food point was penalized Rs. 25,000 for using harmful monosodium glutamate (China salt) in food preparation.
In Mouza Bhattiyaan, Adda Sahooka, a khoya unit was fined Rs. 30,000 for adulteration with starch.
In Chak 330/WB, a soda water factory was fined Rs. 15,000 for using substandard ingredients in production.
