PFA discards 3 maunds counterfeit ‘khoya’, one held

MULTAN, Jul 30 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) raided at ‘khoya’ production unit in Hassan Mahmood Colony, Luddan, and seized three maunds of spurious ‘khoya’.
One person was arrested while FIR was got lodged against the owners of the unit.
According to the PFA director general, the factory was using whey powder and vegetable ghee to manufacture counterfeit ‘khoya’, which was intended for distribution to various sweet shops in the region. “The use of substandard and harmful ingredients in food production was a serious threat to public health. There will be zero tolerance for such criminal activities,” said the DG while speaking on-site.
He added that PFA’s operations were being conducted without discrimination to ensure safe and hygienic food for all citizens. The DG further urged the public to inform about  any suspicious food-related businesses to the Punjab Food Authority’s helpline at 1223.
