MULTAN, Jul 20 (APP):In a continued effort to ensure food safety across Punjab, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified its crackdown against adulterated and substandard food products.
Acting on special instructions from Director General Muhammad Asim Javed, the PFA’s Food Safety team conducted a targeted raid on a spice grinding unit located near Peer colony, Jeera Wali Pull, Multan.
During the inspection, officials discovered that the unit was producing spices using whey powder. Additionally, the raw materials were found infested with insects, and overall hygiene conditions were extremely poor.
The team confiscated and destroyed 224 kilograms of substandard and adulterated spices. The business was also fined Rs100,000 for multiple violations, including the absence of proper labeling, lack of manufacturing and expiry dates, and non-compliance with basic food safety protocols.
