PFA discards 1,200 litres adulterated milk in Mandrah
RAWALPINDI, Sep 14 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday discarded 1,200 litres of substandard milk after detecting water adulteration in a milk carrier during an early morning checking operation on GT Road, Mandrah.
According to a PFA spokesperson, the authority set up a checking point on GT Road, Mandrah, and inspected milk-carrying vehicles on the directives of PFA Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed.
The adulterated milk was discarded on the spot, while a fine of Rs25,000 was imposed on the supplier for supplying substandard and adulterated milk.
The PFA DG said that milk adulteration was a crime and milk-carrying vehicles were being checked on a daily basis to ensure the provision of safe and quality milk to citizens.
The authority urged citizens to report any complaints regarding food quality by contacting the PFA helpline at 1223.
