LAHORE, Jul 21 (APP): A delegation of the Pakistan Dairy Association held a meeting with Director General Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Muhammad Asim Javaid to discuss comprehensive reforms in the dairy sector and improvements in regulatory policies, here on Monday.
The meeting centered on mutual consultation, planning, and streamlining licensing procedures with the aim of enhancing milk quality and strengthening food safety standards. Both sides agreed to facilitate licensed industrial dairy units by easing operational and compliance processes, while ensuring adherence to food safety protocols.
On the occasion, DG PFA Muhammad Asim Javaid said that the Authority is taking concrete steps to enhance the nutritional value and labeling standards of flavored milk as a healthy alternative to sugary soft drinks. He added that under the special instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the PFA is prioritizing public health and nutrition through strengthened milk quality monitoring and awareness campaigns across Punjab, particularly targeting children’s health. Quality checks at dairy collection centers are already being rigorously enforced.
The DG emphasized that while ensuring food safety remains a core mission, the authority is also committed to supporting the sustainable development of the food industry through policy innovation and collaboration.
