PFA conducts more than 56,267 inspections across division

SARGODHA, Oct 13 (APP): Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted more than 56,267 inspections this year across the division to ensure the availability of quality food items for citizens, a weekly performance review meeting was informed on Monday.
The meeting, chaired by Commissioner Sargodha Division Jehanzeb Awan, was briefed by Additional Director Food Authority Shahbaz Sarwar, who detailed the extensive crackdown on adulteration.
He reported that during the operations, 20,416 notices were issued, fines amounting to Rs 54.77 million were imposed on 4,062 businesses, and 107 FIRs were got registered after lab analysis of 754 samples. A significant focus was placed on the dairy sector, where out of 2.43 million litres of milk checked, 32,950 litres of substandard milk was discarded and fines worth Rs 3.16 million were imposed.
Concluding the meeting, Commissioner Jahanzaib Awan directed the PFA to intensify its operations, emphasizing that there would be no compromise on food quality.
He ordered officials to ensure strict monitoring of food standards and prices at motorway service areas, especially the Bhera Interchange, and enhance inspections of meat shops, bakeries, and restaurants, adding that a campaign to check water filtration plants would begin next week.
