CHINIOT, Nov 26 (APP): Punjab Food Authority (PFA) took swift action to prevent dead chickens from reaching the market, foiling a large-scale shipment in Chiniot on Wednesday.
According to PFA spokesman, the safety teams seized 400 kg of dead chickens in the Chak 142 area, destroying them on the spot.
The authority registered a case, seized the rickshaw, and arrested the driver, Umair son of Shakeel, for committing forgery. Deputy Director Operations Dr. Muhammad Qasim Raza stated that the accused was handed over to the police for further action.
According to investigations, the chickens had died 12 hours prior to the inspection. A senior veterinary specialist declared the chickens unsafe for human consumption, and the supplier lacked necessary records and documents.
Food Authority’s timely intervention saved citizens from potential health risks. The authority continues to ensure food safety, taking strict action against those compromising public health.
