PFA busts major adulterated milk network in Rawalpindi; ringleader held, 15,000 litres destroyed

RAWALPINDI, Nov 24 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday claimed to have dismantled a major adulterated milk supply network in Rawalpindi, arresting its ringleader and discarding more than 15,000 litres of fake milk prepared with dry powder and salt, a spokesman said.
He stated that PFA teams, after prolonged surveillance, intercepted a milk-supply tanker during a raid on Raja Zafarul Haq Road. The tanker was reportedly distributing adulterated milk to various parts of the city.
During the operation, it emerged that the substandard milk was being regularly supplied to a milk shop near Committee Chowk. The outlet was immediately sealed, and its freezer and other equipment confiscated.
The spokesman said samples were sent to the Lahore laboratory, where adulteration was confirmed, prompting swift legal action. A case had been registered against the accused at the Waris Khan Police Station, while efforts to trace other accomplices were under way.
The PFA spokesman said indiscriminate operations against adulterated milk, substandard food items and hazardous products were continuing across the province. He urged the citizens to report any suspicious activity or complaints to the PFA Helpline 1223 to help safeguard public health.
