LAHORE, Aug 03 (APP):The Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) has recovered a record Rs52 billion under contributions and Workers’ Welfare Funds, including more than Rs37 billion in contributions alone, marking a 19.6 per cent increase over the previous financial year.
Commissioner PESSI Zulfiqar Ali Kharal told media on Monday that the institution’s province-wide recovery campaign and the registration of workers employed in factories and industrial units were progressing successfully. He said the recovered funds were being utilised for the welfare of workers and their families through various social protection initiatives.
He said key welfare programmes, including the Maryam Nawaz Ration Card, free medical treatment at Social Security hospitals and financial assistance schemes, were continuing without interruption, benefiting millions of registered workers and their families across Punjab. He said that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the institution remained committed to providing quality healthcare, social protection and welfare facilities to the labour community.
The commissioner added that all field formations had been directed to further intensify the recovery campaign and expedite the registration of workers to expand the coverage of social security services throughout the province.
