LAHORE, Sep 09 (APP):Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) Commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Kharal has directed officers to ensure achievement of contribution and recovery targets, expedite registration of industrial and commercial establishments, and take effective measures to bring more workers under the coverage of the Social Security system.
He issued these directions while chairing a meeting at the Head Office to review in detail the performance of the Directorate of Social Security Faisalabad West, here on Wednesday. Director Faisalabad West, Area Officers, Vice Commissioner Tauqeer Ilyas Cheema and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed progress on contribution targets, recovery of Workers’ Welfare Funds and the Ration Card initiative. The Commissioner was also briefed on the registration of new industrial and commercial establishments in Faisalabad West and recovery of outstanding dues from defaulters.
The meeting further examined measures being taken to bring newly established businesses and workers into the Social Security net and expand the coverage of the system.
The Commissioner directed officers to utilize all available resources to achieve the prescribed contribution and recovery targets. He ordered more effective recovery of outstanding dues from defaulting industrial and commercial establishments and directed that the registration process be expedited to enhance Social Security coverage. He also called for special measures to improve recovery of Workers’ Welfare Funds and directed officers to ensure timely progress on the Ration Card initiative in accordance with the prescribed targets.
Zulfiqar Ali Kharal stressed the need for improved field performance and said no negligence in achieving contribution and recovery targets would be tolerated. He directed officers to make performance improvement and target achievement their top priorities.
The Commissioner further warned that complaints of corruption or malpractice would be dealt with strictly, adding that officers of the concerned office as well as the relevant Director would be held accountable in such cases.
