PESHAWAR, Oct 14 (APP):A group of protesters forcibly switched on an electricity feeder at the Serai Naurang grid station after allegedly intimidating PESCO staff, raising concerns about disruption to power supply in other areas, the company said on Wednesday.
According to a PESCO spokesperson,18 to 20 people entered the grid station at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday and remained there throughout the night before leaving at 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
The spokesperson said the protesters claimed that Awami National Party (ANP) district president Malik Ali Sarwar Khan had sent them to get the feeders switched on.
The protesters allegedly threatened the staff and forcibly activated the FTM feeder, which has recorded losses of more than 87 percent due to electricity theft and non-payment of outstanding bills, he added.
The spokesperson warned that the forced operation of the feeder was affecting the grid station and could disrupt electricity supply to other areas.
