PESHAWAR, Sep 25 (APP):Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) during its on-going drive against power pilferers and defaulters removed 5816 illegal connections across the province and 521 persons were arrested by police on charge of power theft.
PESCO spokesman said here Monday that PESCO submitted various applications to police against more than 4932 electricity thieves while over 2071 cases were filed against the accused.
Giving details of the crackdowns, he said that 1249 illegal connections were removed in Peshawar circle, 1126 in Mardan circle, 841 in Khyber Circle, 669 in Swat Circle, 555 in DI Khan and 550 in Bannu Circle apart from direct hooks removed in Abbottabad, Swabi and Mansehra circles.
Similarly, PESCO imposed over Rs 243.5 million on the pilferers. The spokesman urged masses to report electricity theft by calling 118.
