DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 02 (APP):PESCO Rural Division XEN, Engineer Muaz Ahmed, has said that the provision of safety equipment to PESCO line staff will significantly help in the timely resolution of electricity outage complaints and ensure safer working conditions for employees.
He expressed these views while addressing a safety awareness seminar at the PESCO Cantt Complaint Office.
The seminar was attended by SDO PESCO Cantt Sub-Division Engineer Sanaullah Khan, Line Superintendent Inam Khan, Superintendent Fasih Khan, and members of the PESCO complaint and line staff.
Engineer Muaz Ahmed stated that the government has allocated substantial funds to provide protective equipment to line staff with the clear objective of ensuring that workers prioritize their own safety before carrying out maintenance and repair work on power lines.
He emphasized that safeguarding the lives of PESCO employees is a top priority of the organization.
During the seminar, safety gear provided by the government was distributed among the Cantt complaint line staff. The equipment included safety gloves, safety boots, belts, raincoats, first aid boxes, torches, wrenches, screwdrivers, and other essential tools.
The XEN stressed that strict compliance with safety SOPs during electricity supply and repair work is mandatory, warning that even minor negligence can lead to the loss of precious human lives. He added that safety awareness seminars are aimed at enhancing the knowledge of precautionary measures among line staff to prevent any untoward incidents.
He further directed that the use of safety equipment in the field must be ensured and that any dangerous situation should be immediately reported to the officers concerned to avoid accidents and ensure uninterrupted power services to consumers.
