DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 09 (APP): On the directives of SE PESCO Dera Circle Engineer Hizbullah Mehsud, a major operation was carried out against power theft across multiple areas of the city. The operation was supervised by XEN Rural Division Engineer Muaz Ahmad and led by SDO City-I Subdivision Engineer Waqas Baloch along with his team.
During the crackdown, the team removed 10 illegal electricity connections (kundas) from Muslim Bazaar Feeder, five from City-I Feeder, and six from Commissionery Bazaar Feeder. The wires used for the illegal connections were also seized on the spot.
The PESCO officials forwarded 21 cases of electricity theft to City and Cantt police stations for registration of FIRs.
Talking to the media, SDO Waqas Baloch said that feeder-wise operations against the kunda mafia are being conducted on daily basis. He added that offenders are not only being fined but their cases are also being submitted for legal action.
He urged consumers facing unjust fines to contact the PESCO office immediately, assuring that such penalties would be waived off. He further advised all consumers to clear their outstanding dues and install proper meters, noting that these steps are essential for reducing load-shedding.
