KHANEWAL, Oct 15 (APP):Teams of Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) demolished 255 shops built on state land in an operation at Thatha Sadiqabad area in Tahsil Jahanian on Wednesday.
The operation was launched after officials came to know the state land that was retrieved earlier was again targeted by land grabbers, officials said adding that 255 shops built on state land from Pul No 14 to Pul No 37 were demolished Wednesday.
The operation was conducted by PERA, revenue department officials and tehsil Jahanian administration.
Heavy machinery has been deployed under ‘Suthra Punjab’ program to lift and remove debris.
Deputy commissioner Khanewal said in a statement that large scale operations would continue to retrieve state land from land grabbers as per orders and vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif. No one will be allowed to occupy or reoccupy the state land, she added.
