Peace committees, procession organisers laud Punjab govt’s Muharram arrangements

LAHORE, Jul 11 (APP):Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari on Friday met licence-holders of mourning processions and members of the peace committee, who lauded the provincial government’s exemplary security and administrative arrangements during the first 10 days of Muharram.
Secretary Information Punjab, Tahir Raza Hamdani was also present.
The organisers of majalis and processions expressed gratitude for the exemplary arrangements made for the devotees of Imam Hussain (RA) during Muharram. They also thanked Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the excellent facilities and security provided.
The Shia Ulema Council presented the “Imam Hussain Peace Award” to the minister for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, acknowledging her efforts in ensuring peaceful Muharram observance.
During the meeting, Azma Bokhari said that satisfaction expressed by majalis and procession organisers regarding the arrangements was encouraging, adding that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz personally monitored the preparations closely. She said that the appreciation expressed by the Shia community reflected a positive tradition.
The delegation included Allama Kazim Raza Naqvi, Allama Shabbih Shirazi, Focal Person Qasim Ali Qasmi, Allama Yusuf Johari, Hafiz Iqbal, Ilyas Yazdani, Sagheer Virk, Safdar Jafri and others.
