PDMA issue hill torrents alert for DG Khan, Rajanpur after rains in Sulaiman mountain range

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Aug 02 (APP):Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Friday issued medium to high level flood warning for Dera Ghazi Khan region after heavy rains received over Sulaiman mountains triggered fears hill torrents could flare up to medium to high level flooding during next 72 hours.
Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed said that administrations of districts concerned (Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan) should remain alert and be proactive in keeping protective arrangements ready to cope with any emergency situation.
The PDMA asked the Commissioner DG Khan, deputy commissioners concerned, officials of Irrigation, Health, Livestock, Rescue 1122 and others departments to be ready with all arrangements in advance.
Nabeel Javed said that people living near and around the hill torrents pathways should be shifted to safer places.
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia, conveying message from Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz to people, urged them not to put their life in danger during floods. He further stated that Punjab government would utilise all resources to keep their life and property including cattle heads safe.
In case of danger, people should come out of their homes and cooperate with the administration officials.
He asked officials to convey this message to the people through print and electronic media, social media and local means of communications like local media and announcements through mosque loudspeakers.
He said that people should contact PDMA through its helpline ‘1129’ in case of any emergency.
