PDMA holds consultative meeting on winter contingency plan 2025–26

PESHAWAR, Oct 16 (APP): The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday convened a consultative meeting with district administrations to review the Winter Contingency Plan 2025–26.
The session, chaired by Director Disaster Risk Management (DRM) PDMA, focused on enhancing preparedness, coordination, and response mechanisms for the upcoming winter season.
Additional Deputy Commissioners (Relief) from all districts attended the meeting and presented updates on district-level readiness, resource mapping, and logistical arrangements to handle potential emergencies, including snowstorms, landslides, and road blockages.
Addressing the participants, the Director DRM underscored the need for proactive planning, inter-departmental coordination, and early preparedness to ensure a swift and effective response during winter emergencies.
He directed all districts to identify vulnerable areas, establish emergency response teams, and ensure the availability of machinery, fuel, and relief supplies prior to the onset of winter.
Participants also discussed inter-agency coordination, communication mechanisms, and public awareness initiatives for communities in high-risk zones.
The PDMA reaffirmed its commitment to extending full support to district administrations to ensure effective disaster risk management during the winter months.
Concluding the meeting, the Director General PDMA lauded the efforts of district administrations during the recent monsoon season and appreciated their timely relief and compensation measures in flood-affected areas.
The meeting ended with a joint resolve to strengthen preparedness, improve coordination, and safeguard the lives and livelihoods of citizens across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the forthcoming winter season.
