PCNF to start functioning soon in district to eradicate menace of drugs: Parliamentary Secretary

FAISALABAD, Oct 09 (APP):In light of the instructions by Punjab government, a meeting regarding measures to eradicate the scourge of drugs was held here on Thursday.
Parliamentary Secretary for Excise and Taxation/MPA Shehryar Awan and DG Punjab Counter Narcotics Force Brig. Mazhar and Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar jointly chaired the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Cap (Retd) Nadeem Nasir, Deputy Commissioners of Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot participated through video link. Parliamentarians Chaudhry Arif Mahmood Gul, Uzma Jabeen Raja, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Maulana Muhammad Ilyas, Muslim League leaders Ali Gohar Baloch, Raja Daniyal, Faqir Hussain Dogar, Umar Israr and others were also present in the meeting.
Provincial Parliamentary Secretary for Excise and Taxation Shehryar Awan said that Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (PCNF) has been formed in the province to eradicate the menace of drugs in the society. He said that the force would start working in Faisalabad division soon. He said that the growing scourge of drugs is destroying the young generation, which is inevitable to stop.
He said that unfortunately the use of drugs is now increasing in educational institutions as well as in villages.
He said that the purpose of holding the meeting on the instructions of the CM Punjab is to establish coordination between the force and public representatives.
The Commissioner said that it is very important to save the youth from the scourge of drugs. He said that the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force will be provided full support by the divisional and district administration.
In the meeting, the DG Punjab Counter Narcotics Force informed about the objectives, working and other plans of the establishment of the force.
The parliamentarians termed the establishment of the force as a revolutionary step and said that with joint efforts, the menace of drugs will be eradicated.
