ABBOTTABAD, Nov 05 (APP):The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) Abbottabad Region organized an awareness rally to highlight the importance of Data Fest 2025, scheduled to be held at the Pak-China Friendship Centre, Islamabad, on November 11 and 12, 2025.
The rally was led by Chief Officer PBS Abbottabad Region Adnan Shams, along with Additional Commissioner Headquarters Abbottabad Zarak Khan Toru and Assistant UT Officer Junaid Satti. Prominent individuals from various walks of life and members of civil society also participated.
The participants began a walk from the Assistant Commissioner’s Office, holding banners and placards to raise awareness about Data Fest 2025 and the vital role of statistics in national development.
Addressing the rally, Chief Officer Adnan Shams said that statistics serve as the foundation for understanding a society’s social, economic, and developmental structure. He added that accurate and timely data enables the government to make informed decisions in key sectors such as education, health, employment, poverty alleviation, and basic infrastructure.
Assistant Commissioner Zarak Yar Khan Toru emphasized that statistics are the basis of state policymaking. He said that through statistical data, authorities can identify growing populations, resource gaps, and areas that require focused attention, ensuring that development projects become more effective and sustainable.
Experts noted that local data helps understand the actual needs of villages and districts, while national-level data guides policymaking, budget allocation, and project prioritization. They added that internationally, accurate statistics assist global institutions in assessing a country’s progress, economy, and social welfare, helping shape aid and development programs by organizations such as the United Nations.
Speakers underlined that in the era of digital transformation and artificial intelligence, the importance of data and statistics has grown significantly. They urged citizens to actively participate in census and statistical activities to ensure the development of Hazara Division based on reliable data.
Participants pledged to continue promoting awareness about the significance of statistics in their institutions, educational centers, and communities, helping strengthen data-driven and scientific decision-making for the country’s progress.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics invited the public and institutions to actively participate in Data Fest 2025, to be held in Islamabad on November 11–12, 2025.
