MULTAN, Oct 12 (APP): Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a major step forward in women’s empowerment and economic inclusion.
PBM Managing Director, Senator Captain Shahin Khalid Butt, hailed the agreement as a milestone for both women’s empowerment and national progress. Under the MoU, all 165 Women Empowerment Centers (WECs) operated by PBM will be accredited by NAVTTC, enabling 24,744 women to receive nationally and internationally recognized vocational certifications twice a year.
With an estimated expenditure of Rs 60,000 per student, the total budget for this initiative amounts to Rs 1.48 billion (Rs 1,484,640,000).
These certifications will enhance employment prospects for women in both national and international markets, with further opportunities for overseas placements facilitated through the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC). The initiative aims to promote financial independence and entrepreneurship among women, making them strong economic contributors within their families and communities.
The signing ceremony was attended by NAVTTC Executive Director Muhammad Aamir Jan, PBM Director General (Projects) Professor Dr. Zeeshan Danish, Director Education Dr. Zafar Khan Safdar, and other PBM directors. Dr. Danish was especially praised for his pivotal role in finalizing the agreement.
PBM Director South Punjab, Rana Muhammad Ramzan Tahir, welcomed the partnership and noted that it will benefit thousands of women nationwide, particularly hundreds from the 12 districts of South Punjab.
The WECs offer training in in-demand skills such as dressmaking, information technology (IT), and beautician services, aligned with evolving market requirements.
Senator Captain Shahin Khalid Butt emphasized that the initiative is in line with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s “Udaan Pakistan (2024–2029)” vision and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It aims to uplift women out of poverty through free training, stipends, and necessary resources.
Beyond the WECs, PBM continues to serve marginalized communities through programs such as child labor rehabilitation schools, Pakistan Sweet Homes for orphans, shelter homes, Great Homes for the elderly, and financial aid for widows and persons with disabilities.
“This agreement will empower Pakistani women with skills, dignified employment, and global opportunities, making a significant contribution to national development,” stated a press release issued following the ceremony.
