SARGODHA, Jul 16 (APP):The Punjab government has taken all the strict security measures for the 9th and 10th Muharram processions and gatherings in Sargodha division.
This was stated by Provincial Minister for Construction and Communications Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth while talking to media-men on Tuesday.
He said a total of 567 majalis (mourning gatherings) was going to be held in the four districts of the division, including 24 A-category majlis while 222 mourning processions would be taken out in Sargodha,Khushab,Mianwali and Bhakkar collectively and 26 of A-category processions originating from different locations.
Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth said a total of 7,683 police officers and personnel were performing duties for the security of the majlis and processions.
3,500 volunteers were also on duty at various points and over 1,500 employees from Rescue 1122,municipal corporations,FESCO, PTCL, and Sui Gas, along with other departments were also performing their duties for processions and gatherings,he said.
Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth has directed all district police officers to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the Muharram processions and gatherings.
He has also directed the district administration to provide all necessary facilities to the mourners.
The provincial minister has appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony during Muharram and avoid any activities that could disrupt the law and order situation.
The Punjab government was committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens during Muharram,he added.
