PESHAWAR, Jun 18 (APP): An endeavor to enhance export and create awareness among the business community to improve quality of local manufacturing products and meet competitiveness in the global market, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) jointly launched a series of seminars and training programs.
According to details, SCCI has proposed holding training programs and workshops for various clusters/sectors, including furniture, honey, carpet and other export-oriented products in Peshawar and other regions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
By practically implementing proposals of the SCCI, the TDAP preliminarily organised an awareness seminar on “Wood Identification, Quality Assessment and Export Procedure of Furniture sector in joint collaboration with the Chamber and KP Furniture Associations here on Wednesday.
The main purpose of the seminar was to provide information on wood identification, quality testing, and export procedures, with the aim of developing Pakistan’s furniture industry and increasing the share of the furniture industry in the export sector.
The session was chaired by SCCI president Fazal Moqeem Khan.
Besides, SCCI vice president Shehryar Khan, former president Malik Niaz Ahmad, members of executive committee of the chamber Sabir Ahmad Bangash, Saifullah Khan, and Ihsanullah, Rashid Iqbal Siddiqui, WCCIP president Rabia Basri, women chamber members, SCCI Secretary General Muqtasid Ahsan, traders, manufacturers and exporters associated with furniture clusters were present in a large number during the seminar.
Fazal Moqeem Khan, president SCCI in his opening remarks highlighted export-oriented furniture manufacturing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which has high demand in the rest of the world.
The chamber president stressed government relevant institutions’ patronage and assistance to boost export of furniture from KP to other parts of the world.
Moqeem expressed hope such seminars would help to further improve the quality of manufacturing furniture and enhance trade and export from this region.
He appreciated the TDAP for collaboration with SCCI to jointly hold a series of awareness seminars and training sessions on diverse sectors.
Later, TDAP Deputy Director Zahid Muhammad, Pakistan Forest Institute (PFI) Peshawar Director Dr Zahid Rauf, Deputy Director PFI Dr Tanveer Hussain and TDAP Director Nadia Farooqi also spoke on the occasion.
Senior officials shed light on best practices and strategies to promote the quality and export potential of Pakistan’s furniture industry and to share knowledge for sustainable development.
Nadia Farooqi joined the seminar through video link apprised that TDAP is proactively taking initiatives to enhance export of Pakistani’s manufacturing products, besides conducting sessions for quality improvement and organising number of exhibitions to promote them at the global market.
