Pakistan-Turkiye cooperation can be model for Muslim nations: Turkish Ambassador

LAHORE, Feb 21 (APP):Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Irfan Naziroglu has said that mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye can be an example for other Muslim countries.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting during his visit to Punjab University, here on Friday.
PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali welcomed the delegation. Turkish Consul General Durmus Bastug, PU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Director External Linkages Yamina Salman, Registrar Dr Ahmad Islam and officers of the Turkish Consulate were also present.
Expressing his views, the Turkish ambassador said that Turkiye and Pakistan could make great progress by utilising each other’s resources. He said that they were working on an academic roadmap between Pakistan and Turkiye. The ambassador said, “We need to further strengthen our relations with each other.” He said that he wanted to promote joint research in the universities of Turkiye and Pakistan.
The Turkish ambassador said that Turkiye and Pakistan were also cooperating in defence sector, and added that the two countries would also promote cooperation in the fields of science and culture. The ambassador said that he wanted to work together in the fields of engineering and medicine and also wanted to start a dual degree programme in the universities of both countries. Irfan Naziroglu said that the universities of both the countries would also organise an education fair. He wished that the MoUs between the universities of both countries be functional.
PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that relations between Muslim countries could be further strengthened through the OIC platform. He said that Turkiye and Pakistan think alike and any Pakistani feels at home when he visits Turkiye. The VC said, “We will play our role in promoting relations with Turkiye.” He said that there is a need to institutionalise Pak-Turkish joint research. Dr Muhammad Ali also appreciated TIKA’s projects in Pakistani universities.
