LAHORE, Aug 08 (APP):A delegation of Pakistan Poultry Association led by its Chairman Muhammad Nusrat on Thursday met Punjab Livestock Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani.
According to official sources here, the delegation consisted of representatives of Punjab Poultry Association, Poultry Traders Association and Broiler Farmers Association.
During the meeting chicken supply chain and prices were reviewed. Different options came under discussion with regard to mechanism to determine chicken rates.
Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said provision of relief to people was top priority of the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. He said that CM wanted availability of chicken at low price in the market so that common man could purchase it. He further said that Punjab government intended to determine price of chicken after holding consultation with all the stakeholders.
The government was ready to give 15 to 20 percent profit margin on cost of production of chickens.
He said the government would not only provide protection to poultry industry but ensure provision of facilities and ease of doing business to it. The minister directed the Livestock secretary to decide applicable formula or proposals with stakeholders to determine chicken price so that its report could be presented to Punjab Chief Minister for final approval.
