Pakistan Bureau of Statistics Organizes Awareness Walk in Larkana on World Statistics Day

LARKANA, Oct 20 (APP):The Regional Office of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) in Larkana organized a dynamic awareness walk through the city’s streets to mark World Statistics Day on Monday.
The walk, held in collaboration with the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Larkana and provincial and federal departments, highlighted the crucial role of quality statistics and data in national development.
Participants gathered at the DEO (Primary) Office near Larkano Bakery Chowk and marched toward the Press Club Jinnah Bagh, enjoying scenes adorned with trees and blooming roses along the way. Banners displayed slogans such as “World Statistics Day Celebration – 20 October 2025” and “Quality Statistics and Data for All,” underscoring PBS’s commitment to providing transparent and reliable data.
Addressing the event, Zeeshan Ali, Chief Statistical Officer and Regional In-charge of PBS Larkana, stated, “When departments unite around accurate statistics, we enable policymakers to make decisions that reflect public needs. Today’s walk reinforces our shared responsibility to promote data literacy and evidence-based planning in Larkana and beyond.”Awareness held in a peaceful and secure environment, the walk attracted media attention and public interest. Volunteers distributed informational pamphlets explaining national indicators such as population growth, literacy rates, and health outcomes. The walk concluded with a brief ceremony at the Press Club Jinnah Bagh, where partners reaffirmed their commitment to using statistics for sustainable development.
 He said more World Statistics Day, celebrated globally every year on October 20, highlights the importance of reliable data in building prosperous and just societies. The Larkana event exemplifies how collaboration across government levels can transform numbers into meaningful action for public welfare.
                             The following dignitaries, officers, and representatives participated in the walk, Shaukat Ali Abro – District Health Officer, Larkana, Dr. Abdul Rashid Junejo, Additional Medical Superintendent, Civil Hospital Larkan, Representative of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Larkana, Anees Jalani – District Education Officer (Primary) Gada  Hussain Abbasi – Deputy Director, Child Protection, Larkana Division and Large number of various School Childrens and Civil Society members were participated.
