DERA ISMAIL KHAN , Jun 27 (APP):In view of Muharram-ul-Haram, the Dera Ismail Khan police have finalized a comprehensive security plan to ensure peace and stability during the sacred month. As one of the most sensitive districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, more than 9,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed to prevent any untoward incident during the religious processions and gatherings.
District Police Officer (DPO) Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmad is personally overseeing the implementation of the security measures. The city has been divided into four security zones, each placed under the supervision of a Superintendent of Police (SP) to ensure swift response in case of emergencies.
CCTV cameras have been installed along the entry and exit points of processions, Imam Bargahs, and main routes to monitor all movements. In addition to the police, Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel have also been deployed to support the efforts and strengthen the overall security environment.
Strict checking is underway at the city’s entry and exit points, while intelligence-based operations are being carried out in sensitive areas to avert any potential threats. These efforts are aimed at protecting the lives and property of the citizens and maintaining public order throughout the month.
Religious scholars from various schools of thought, business communities, and civil society organizations have appreciated the police efforts and assured their full cooperation in maintaining peace and harmony.
In a statement, DPO Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmad said that the district police is fully alert and committed to ensuring the sacred month of Muharram passes peacefully.
He further added that arrangements for the accommodation and food of police personnel arriving from other districts have also been finalized. Senior officers will personally monitor all security arrangements during Muharram and address any shortcomings on the spot. He directed police personnel on duty to remain vigilant and alert at all times.
He also emphasized the need for officers to maintain close coordination with religious scholars and community elders to prevent any misunderstandings, mischief, or attempts at incitement, and to thwart such elements through unity and swift action.
