MULTAN, Nov 25 (APP):Punjab Food Authority (PFA) discarded over 750 litres of substandard milk on Multan Road after setting up a picket.
An official spokesman said the authority had foiled an attempt to supply the huge quantity of adulterated milk to unidentified locations.
A fine worth Rs 15,000 was imposed on the supplier whose identity could not be ascertained, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
During testing, a substantial shortage of natural fats and nutrients was detected in the milk.
The consignment was reportedly meant for groceries, milk shops and tea hotels in different parts of the district.
PFA Director General Asim Javed said checking at external and internal routes of the district was being further increased. He also urged people to get their milk tested from any food authority office to ensure its purity.
