Khanewal, Oct 08 (APP): Panic gripped Government Girls Elementary School, Circular Road, Mian Channu, when a swarm of honeybees suddenly attacked students and staff members on Tuesday, injuring more than 50 individuals.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred during school hours when a beehive near the school premises became disturbed, causing the bees to swarm into classrooms and the courtyard. Students and teachers attempted to run for safety but many were stung multiple times.
Rescue 1122 teams reached the scene immediately and provided first aid before shifting all affected students and staff to Olympian Arshad Nadeem THQ Hospital. Hospital authorities confirmed that all victims were given anti-allergy vaccines and their condition was now stable and out of danger.
Upon receiving the report, Assistant Commissioner Sajida Razzaq visited the hospital, met the injured students, and directed medical staff to ensure the best possible treatment.
Students later told reporters that the attack happened suddenly while classes were in progress. “We were studying when suddenly a large swarm of bees entered the classroom and started stinging everyone,” one of the students said.
Local authorities have initiated an inspection of the school premises to ensure the beehives are safely removed to prevent any such incidents in the future.
