SIALKOT, Feb 24 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali on Tuesday said that 431 profiteers had been fined Rs1.103 million since the start of Ramazan in the district.
Speaking to the media with ADC (General) Naeem Bashir, she said that 14,797 inspections were conducted, nine violators arrested and five shops sealed over overcharging and hoarding.
She added that 49 price magistrates were carrying out an average of 2,500 inspections daily to ensure availability of essential items at official rates.
The DC said complaints received through helpline 1718 and media reports were being addressed promptly.
Under the Negahban Ramazan Package, 5,000 to 6,000 people were benefiting daily from the Negahban Dastarkhwan, while around 25,000 had been served so far. She urged citizens not to discard their Negahban cards, as future government assistance would also be provided through the same card.
