Over 3,000 election-duty staff cast votes in Mirpur ahead of AJK polls
MIRPUR, Jul 20 (APP):A total of 3,005 out of 5,000 registered government employees assigned election duties exercised their right to vote during the special polling process held in Mirpur district on Monday ahead of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Elections scheduled for July 27.
According to District Returning Officer (DRO) Jahangir Ahmed Jarral, polling for election-duty staff was completed successfully and peacefully in accordance with the Election Commission’s prescribed procedures. The constituency-wise turnout included 715 votes in LA-1, 682 in LA-2, 778 in LA-3, and 830 in LA-4.
The DRO said the ballots cast by election-duty staff would remain sealed and would be counted on July 27 along with the votes polled during the general elections after the close of polling.
Election authorities said the polling process remained orderly and peaceful throughout the day, with all administrative and security arrangements implemented in line with the prescribed electoral rules and regulations to ensure transparency and smooth conduct of the exercise.
