Over 25,000 police personnel deployed across Punjab for New Year’s Eve security

LAHORE, Dec 31 (APP): Punjab Police have put in place stringent security arrangements across the province for New Year’s Eve, deploying over 25,000 police officers and personnel, including more than 5,000 in Lahore, to maintain law and order.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the deployment includes 419 inspectors, 1,267 sub-inspectors, 2,189 assistant sub-inspectors, 1,408 head constables, and 16,977 constables and other personnel. All activities will be closely monitored through CCTV cameras across the province.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed police officers to remain on high alert and maintain vigilant surveillance of anti-state and disruptive elements. He said zero tolerance will be observed against one-wheeling, aerial firing, display of weapons, harassment of women, and disorderly conduct, warning that violators will be arrested immediately and dealt with according to law.
The IGP Punjab also instructed authorities to ensure coordinated and effective traffic management on New Year’s Eve. Dolphin Squad, PRU, Elite Force, and Punjab Highway Patrol teams will enhance patrolling on roads and highways.
CCPO Lahore, RPOs, and DPOs have been directed to personally supervise security and traffic arrangements, while additional personnel have been deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The IGP urged citizens to cooperate with the police and report incidents of one-wheeling, aerial firing, or weapon display by calling Police Helpline 15.
