LAHORE, Oct 20 (APP):More than 2.27 million children were administered anti-polio drops during the seven-day polio eradication campaign in Lahore, exceeding the set target of 2.23 million.
A review meeting on the completion of the campaign was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore Syed Musa Raza at his office on Monday. The meeting was attended by CEO Health Dr. Asif Arbab, Assistant Commissioners, and World Health Organization (WHO) observers.
During the briefing, CEO Health Dr. Asif Arbab informed that the campaign achieved exceptional coverage as the field teams remained active across the city and the monitoring process was effectively implemented. He said that in addition to achieving the target, more than 126,000 children who were initially missed were covered during the catch-up phase, ensuring comprehensive outreach.
WHO observers appreciated the district administration’s performance, terming the overall campaign “commendable.” They noted significant improvement in the coverage of previously “not attended” children and praised the coordination and supervision of field teams.
On the occasion, DC Lahore Syed Musa Raza commended the efforts of the polio teams, Assistant Commissioners, and health officials, stating that this campaign had been one of Lahore’s most successful anti-polio drives. “The benchmark achieved truly reflects the hard work, teamwork, and dedication of all departments,” he remarked.
He said that the campaign’s success must be sustained in future rounds until the complete eradication of polio. The DC further acknowledged the invaluable services of frontline workers, saying their contribution to protecting children’s health will always be remembered.
Deputy District Health Officers (DDHOs) were also appreciated for ensuring strict field monitoring and timely coordination during the campaign.
