SIALKOT, Jul 14 (APP):In a continued crackdown against drug traffickers, Sialkot police arrested two suspects, including a woman, and recovered over 16 kilograms of narcotics.
According to a police spokesperson, under the leadership of District Police Officer Sialkot Faisal Shahzad, Sialkot police launched a vigorous crackdown against drug dealers across the district under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for a drug-free Punjab, so that the society can be cleansed of this scourge.
In this regard, under the supervision of DSP Saddar Circle Irfan Saeed and under the leadership of SHO Sadar Police Station Irshad Ahmed, during two separate intelligence-based operations, 5.500kg opium was recovered from accused Mishal, who was involved in drug trafficking, and 11kg hashish was recovered from the possession of accused Rizwan in the second operation. A total of 16.500kg drugs were recovered from the possession of the accused.
During the investigation, the accused said that they used to bring drugs from other districts and supply them to different areas of Sialkot. The arrest of the suspects has not only disrupted the local drug supply chain, but will also help in reaching out to other elements involved in this nefarious business.
DPO Sialkot Faisal Shehzad has said that Sialkot Police is fully committed to the practical implementation of the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif of “Drug-Free Punjab”, and this crackdown will continue uninterrupted until the complete eradication of drugs.
