LAHORE, Oct 07 (APP):The Punjab Home Department has achieved a major milestone in its volunteer services initiative, with over 100,000 individuals registering as Civil Defence volunteers across the province.
According to the department’s spokesperson, 58,008 men and 43,217 women have signed up so far, showcasing strong participation from both genders. Volunteers come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to serve their fellow citizens in times of need, added spokesperson.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Home Secretary Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi praised the efforts of these volunteers, stating, “Whether in times of war, during rescue and relief operations in flood-hit areas, or while tackling smog, Civil Defence volunteers are always ready to serve the nation.”
Dr. Qazi highlighted that Gujranwala tops the list in terms of volunteer registrations, followed by Faisalabad and Jhelum. He further noted that volunteers will actively assist in awareness campaigns and field operations against smog in the coming months.
The spokesperson added that citizens may register through the online portal VCD.HOME.GOP.PK. Individuals who offer their services as volunteers will be awarded special certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contribution.
