KARACHI, Sep 07 (APP): Over 1.6 million people could be affected by possible flooding across Sindh, Provincial Rain and Flood Emergency Monitoring Cell report said.
According to the report, as many as 1,651 villages in 167 union councils across 44 talukas of various divisions and districts face the risk of inundation, putting a population of 1,638,491 at risk.
During the past 24 hours, 6,288 people have been shifted to safer locations, while the total number of affected individuals has reached 128,057. To support displaced families, 528 relief camps have been set up across the province.
The Sindh Health Department has established 154 medical camps, both mobile and fixed, where 5,772 patients were treated in the last 24 hours alone, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 39,576.
In terms of livestock, the report highlighted that 370,161 animals have been moved to safe areas. Additionally, 70,267 animals received treatment and vaccination in the last 24 hours, raising the overall number of livestock provided with veterinary care to 878,796.
The Sindh Information Department emphasized that all government departments remain fully mobilized to mitigate the impact of the potential floods and to provide timely relief to the people. On directives of the Sindh government, district administrations are operating relief and medical camps across the province.
