Over 1.1m register for CM’s ‘Maryam Ko Batain’ programme

LAHORE, Mar 01 (APP): More than 1.1 million people have registered within 10 days for Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s new relief initiative, “Maryam Ko Batain”, launched to provide direct financial assistance to deserving families not included in the initial list of four million beneficiaries.
Chairperson 1000 Helpline and Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell Saima Farooq told media on Sunday that thousands of eligible citizens have already received Rs10,000 directly into their JazzCash mobile wallets after verification and wealth filtering based on CNIC records.
Of the total registrations, 910,000 were completed via the mobile app, 140,000 through the helpline, and 50,000 through the official web portal (https://mkb.punjab.gov.pk), with more than 100,000 daily registrations on average. The helpline recorded 1.8 million call attempts in a single hour, reflecting strong public confidence in the programme and the chief minister’s leadership.
The chairperson explained that each applicant was issued a tracking ID, and beneficiaries were informed through SMS alerts, robo-calls, and outbound verification calls. Upon confirmation from JazzCash, recipients could collect the amount by presenting the message along with their original CNIC.
The system ensures transparency and accountability, with all cash transfers made directly without intermediaries. Applicants already benefiting from Ramazan Nigehban, Rashan Card, Benazir Income Support Programme, or Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Programme were not eligible for MKB assistance.
The chairperson said the programme underscores the Punjab government’s commitment to providing economic relief to vulnerable families with dignity and efficiency, ensuring that aid reaches those most in need.
