PESHAWAR, Oct 20 (APP): Leader of the opposition in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Dr. Ibadullah on Monday expressed hope that the recent change in the province’s chief ministership will prove beneficial for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking on the floor of the House,Dr. Ibadullah stated that the new CM’s election could be a positive step for the province, but added that true leadership required expressing solidarity with the people of KP who are sacrificing their lives for peace.
The opposition leader raised concerns over former KP cabinet members still using official vehicles and residences, despite the cabinet being dissolved following the CM’s resignation. He said such practices raise questions about good governance.
Dr. Ibadullah stressed that the issue of law and order has been under discussion for over six weeks and that it remains the joint responsibility of both the government and the opposition.
He urged for an immediate meeting of the relevant committee to seek input from the competent authorities.
Highlighting issue of less salaries and benefits KP police , he said that even CTD offices are operating from rented buildings and that no district in the province can be considered fully secure.
Referring to the APS attack, he said an Apex Committee was formed to ensure security coordination, yet key issues were not properly addressed despite being led by PTI chief ministers.
Dr. Ibadullah assured that the opposition would stand by the government for the betterment of the province, but emphasized that exposing bad governance was also their democratic obligation.
He said that government members should remember their own past actions, adding that the developmental contributions of Mian Nawaz Sharif were part of the country’s history.
Contesting for the position of Chief Minister, he noted, is everyone’s democratic right, but his party had boycotted the CM election after its legal team declared it unconstitutional.
