DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jun 21 (APP): The Dera police Police successfully repelled a terrorist attack near the Malang area within the jurisdiction of Hathala Police Station, killing a key Fitna-al-Khawarij affiliated with the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (Gandapur group) and injuring two others on Saturday.
According to police spokesman Yaqub Zulqarnain, the incident occurred as a police team was returning from duty in the Takwara area when it was ambushed by militants linked to the extremist faction. In the ensuing gunbattle, police responded with full force, killing one terrorist identified as Fatah son of Hanan, and forcing the others to flee with injuries.
Under the leadership of District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada, the SP Sadar and fresh reinforcements launched an intensive search and strike operation to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, lauded the Dera police for their courage and swift action, announcing commendations and rewards for the personnel involved. He reiterated the province’s commitment to rooting out terrorism, vowing that every terrorist will be hunted down to secure long-term peace.
