PESHAWAR, Jan 17 (APP):The district administration of Peshawar, under the directives of the provincial government on Friday conducted a major crackdown against the illegal sale of free government school textbooks in market and arrested an accused.
According to office of the deputy commissioner, acting on a tip-off, Assistant Commissioner (City) Peshawar conducted a raid near Al-Rahman Chowk in the Hashnagri area, uncovering a large stash of textbooks labeled “Not for Sale.”
These books, published by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board, were intended for free distribution to government school students as part of the government’s initiative to promote quality education.
During the raid, it was revealed that the offenders had erased the “Not for Sale” stamp on the books and were selling them illegally in the private market.
All confiscated books were seized, and the owner present at the site was arrested.
Preliminary investigations suggest that this illegal activity was part of a larger organized network, allegedly operating with the collusion of certain elements within government schools and the Textbook Board.
A high-level investigations had been initiated to expose the entire network.
Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Sarmad Saleem Akram appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration by reporting any illegal activities.
