LAHORE, Oct 29 (APP):Chairperson Board of Governors of Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology (NSIC) Sargodha and Health Advisor Punjab Major General (retd) Dr Azhar Mahmood Kiani has said that the institute will provide world-class cardiac treatment facilities to the people of the region.
He was presiding over the first meeting of the Board of Governors of NSIC Sargodha on Wednesday, held on the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
A comprehensive 13-point agenda was presented during the meeting, which approved the notification and legal status of the institution along with the appointment of the Dean, Director, Medical Director, Nursing Director, and Finance Director. Proposals related to human resources, administration, and financial affairs were also approved.
The board sanctioned the opening of bank accounts, recruitment of essential staff, and formulation of rules and regulations, as well as utility and financial frameworks. It also approved the creation of institutional and establishment funds and the formation of HR, Finance, and Project Implementation Committees.
Dr. Kiani emphasized that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is committed to bringing real reforms in the health sector, and NSIC Sargodha stands as a practical manifestation of that vision.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood Khan said that, in line with the Chief Minister’s vision, the institute would be made operational as soon as possible to provide modern facilities for the treatment of heart patients.
Director NSIC Dr. Waris Farooq stated that the institute would be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and run under a transparent and efficient management system to ensure quality treatment for all patients.
During the meeting, the Chief Operating Officer of IDAP briefed the board on the hospital’s construction progress, informing that the 200-bed facility would be completed by the end of December. He added that 100 percent funds have been released, all seven floors have been completed, and the purchase of medical equipment is underway.
Appreciating the cooperation of all members, Dr. Kiani directed the immediate implementation of all decisions to make the institute functional at the earliest, so that it could begin serving the people of Sargodha and surrounding areas.
The meeting was attended by Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, Dr. Shujaat Ali, Madam Parveen Qadir Agha, Col. (retd) Iftikhar-ul-Hassan, Dr. Haroon Jamil, and Dr. Azhar Rashid. The Secretaries of Finance, Law, and Planning departments also participated via video link.
