No vehicle plunging incident occurred in Rawalpindi: Distt Admin

RAWALPINDI, Jul 22 (APP):The Rawalpindi District Administration on Tuesday said that no vehicle had plunged in a storm drain in its limits.
The purported incident of the vehicle falling took place at a private housing society, which was not located in the domain of Rawalpindi district, a district administration spokesman said.
He clarified that private housing societies fell in the limits of Islamabad; however, the Rawalpindi Administration was ready to assist the Islamabad Administration to deal with such incidents.
Amid torrential rain pouring intermittently in the twin cities since early morning, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Rescue-1122 and Civil Defence kept on high alert to cope with any eventuality.
The spokesman said all the operational wings of administration had mobilized their workforce as light to moderate rainfall continued in various areas of the
city.
WASA Managing Director Saleem Ashraf told APP that they were fully vigilant and monitoring of Nullah Leh and other drains to prevent any overflow or urban flooding.
He said that the WASA staff had been deployed with heavy machinery in the low-lying areas, including Committee Chowk Underpass, Liaquat Bagh, Murree Road and Sadiqabad.
According to the Meteorological Department, currently the water level in Nullah Leh was 6 feet at Katarian and 4 feet at the Gawalmandi bridge.
The rainfall started at 3 a.m. and till 12:30 p.m. 74 mm rain was received at Saidpur, 28 mm at Golra, 63 mm at Bokra and 32 mm at Pakistan Meteorological Department (H-8) in Islamabd, and 32 mm at Shamsabad, 85 mm at Kachhari, 30 mm at Pirwadhai, 55 mm at Gawalmandi and 24 mm at Katarian.
