MULTAN, Dec 01 (APP):Nishtar Medical University and Hospital has intensified its “Nishtar Green & Clean Drive,” with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mehnaz Khakwani conducting a detailed inspection of newly developed green zones and ongoing plantation work across the campus.
Dr. Khakwani visited several gardens, including the Nishtar Rose Garden, Gogi Garden, the green belt around MK Pasha Hall, the fruit orchard and the Miyawaki Garden. She reviewed plantation efforts, landscaping, and maintenance arrangements already underway.
Praising the expansion of green spaces, the VC said the increase in natural foliage has infused the university with “freshness, beauty and a renewed sense of vitality.” She emphasized that greenery is not just aesthetically important but also essential for reducing temperatures, improving oxygen levels, lowering stress, and fostering a healthier academic environment.
She commended all teams involved in the campaign — particularly focal person Dr. Ghulam Mujtaba Nasir — and offered further recommendations to strengthen the initiative. Dr. Khakwani instructed that plantation should be accompanied by consistent care, proper irrigation and scientifically planned garden management. Faculty including Prof. Dr. Bushra Ejaz, Principal College of Nursing Qamar-un-Nisa, and Dr. Ghulam Mujtaba Nasir actively participated in the drive.
Highlighting her broader environmental vision for the institution, Dr. Mehnaz Khakwani stated: “Our goal is to make Nishtar not only a leading medical and teaching institution but also Pakistan’s most beautiful, green and environmentally friendly medical university. We want everyone who comes here to experience a healthy atmosphere, positive energy and a nurturing environment — because a good environment is the source of good learning and good health.”
She reaffirmed her commitment to transforming Nishtar’s identity through sustainable, eco-friendly practices, adding that the university aims to evolve into a “clean, green and smart campus” aligned with modern global standards.
