LAHORE, Dec 17 (APP):On the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) dispatched another consignment of humanitarian assistance for the people of Palestine, here on Wednesday.
The move reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued commitment to providing humanitarian support to the affected population amid the ongoing crisis.
According to an NDMA spokesperson, the 27th relief consignment, weighing 100 tonnes, was sent in collaboration with Alkhidmat Foundation. The relief goods were dispatched through a special flight from Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore. The consignment comprises blankets, tarpaulins, clothing and essential kits for women to address urgent humanitarian and winter-related needs.
The spokesperson further added that with the dispatch of the latest shipment, the total volume of relief assistance sent to Palestine through 27 consignments has reached 2,627 tonnes so far.
A ceremony to mark the dispatch of the relief goods was held at the airport. Punjab Finance Minister MPA Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman and Punjab Housing Minister MPA Mian Bilal Yasin attended the event as chief guests. Officials from the NDMA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with representatives of government departments and Alkhidmat Foundation, were also present on the occasion.
Talking at the ceremony, Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that the government and the people of Pakistan stood shoulder to shoulder with the Palestinian people in this difficult time. He reiterated that all possible efforts would continue to ensure the provision of humanitarian assistance and fulfillment of the urgent needs of the affected population.
