NCHD awards certificates to students

SARGODHA, Nov 18 (APP): The National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) organized a certificate distribution ceremony at the University of Sargodha to honor students of various departments who volunteerily participated in the Prime Minister’s special initiative “Each One, Teach One” (EOTO), aimed at promoting basic literacy and numeracy skills across the country here on Tuesday.
Director General NCHD Ali Asghar graced the occasion as chief guest, while Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas served as guest of honor.
Pro Vice Chancellor UoS Prof Dr Masood Malik, Deputy Director NCHD Umar Daraz Jhawari, Director Academic UoS Prof Uzma Shahzadi, faculty members, and a large number of students attended the ceremony.
A total of 165 students successfully imparted basic education to illiterate members of society over a three-month period under the EOTO program, which operates in collaboration with the University of Sargodha and NCHD.
Addressing the ceremony, DG NCHD Ali Asghar said the program targets is to reach 100,000 illiterate people across the country through collaboration with public sector universities and volunteer communities. “This initiative will increase the literacy rate of our country and make our adult citizens more productive for society and national progress,” he stated.
Vice Chancellor of University Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas announced plans to expand the university’s participation, saying, “We will increase our target up to 500 graduates who will teach illiterate persons in their society in phases.”
At the conclusion of the ceremony, DG NCHD Ali Asghar and Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Prof Dr Qaisar Abbas presented certificates of appreciation to the 165 students who volunteered to teach literacy skills to underprivileged members of their communities.
