ISLAMABAD, Dec 15 (APP):The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Islamabad has arrested an eight-member organised gang involved in large-scale financial fraud during a raid conducted in the Khanna Pul area of the federal capital.
An official told APP on Monday that the accused used to pose as relatives or close friends living abroad—particularly in the United Kingdom—and deceived citizens by fabricating medical emergency scenarios to extract large sums of money.
During the investigation, NCCIA uncovered that one complainant was defrauded of Rs1.5 million through fake identities, with the amount transferred into the bank account of the prime suspect. Documentary and digital evidence confirming the financial transactions was recovered during the probe.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Muhammad Salman, Mohsin Jameel, Nazakat Ali, Mehtab Ali, Muhammad Shah Nawaz, Nasir Ali, Abid Hussain and Fahad Jabbar. A case has been registered under FIR No. 335/25 and Inquiry No. 2512/25, with charges framed under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 and the Pakistan Penal Code.
Officials said the operation was carried out on December 12, 2025, when an NCCIA Islamabad team conducted a targeted raid in the Khanna Pul area. The operation was led by Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Shehroz Riaz, with team members Babar Ali, Fahad Altaf, Waseem Shehzad and Kausar Niazi taking part in the action.
NCCIA authorities stated that further investigation is underway to trace additional facilitators, recover defrauded amounts and identify other potential victims of the gang. They urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious calls, messages or online transactions to the relevant authorities for timely action.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to cracking down on cybercrime and protecting citizens from digital fraud across the country.
