Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment to become paperless: minister

LAHORE, Oct 30 (APP): Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has announced that the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research (NSICTR) is being made completely paperless to enhance efficiency and transparency.
Presiding over the third meeting of the Board of Governors of NSICTR at the Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab (IDAP) on Thursday, along with Chairman Board and former Chief Secretary Punjab Captain (retd) Zahid Saeed, the minister said that the Punjab government is constructing a 915-bed state-of-the-art cancer hospital in Lahore at a cost of Rs. 72 billion.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the under-construction project, human resource planning, and other operational matters. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) also gave a detailed presentation on the paperless system being developed for the institute.
Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that work on the project is continuing day and night, and IDAP has been directed to ensure that the hospital becomes functional within the stipulated time. “Every initiative that helps improve the lives of the people is a top priority of the Punjab government,” he added.
Chairman Board Captain (retd) Zahid Saeed stated that a specific timeline has been set for the completion of the first phase of the hospital.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood Khan, Additional Secretary Finance, Member Health P&D Shafaat Ali, and other senior officers through video link. Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Professor Mahmood Ayaz, Professor Zeba Aziz, Dr. Adnan Khan, and Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Muhammad Waseem were also present. From IDAP, Chief Operating Officer Maira Ali, Chief Strategy Officer Faizan Ahmed Riaz, and other officials participated.
