FAISALABAD, Jul 04 (APP):Chairman Ulema Council and General Secretary International Khatm-e-Nubuwwat Movement Pakistan, Sahibzada Zahid Mehmood Qasmi, said that national unity, peace and respect are imperative during Muharram-ul-Haraam to foil nefarious designs of miscreants and anti-state elements.
During his Juma sermon at Jamia Masjid Gol Ghulam Muhammad Abad, he said that as Islamic month of Muharram begins, religious leaders and scholars call on the nation to highlight the virtues and realities of the sacred month in a positive and respectful manner. He highlighted the significance of unity, reconciliation and solidarity and said that Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions (May Allah please with them) stood firm against injustice and falsehood. He said that this year, Muharram arrived with many challenges, making it more crucial than ever for the nation to show harmony.
He said that Muharram teaches patience, tolerance and peace in addition to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice made by Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), the beloved grandson of the Holy Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and his loyal companions in the battle of Karbala. The tragedy of Karbala has a timeless lesson of selflessness and sacrifice, he said and added that unwavering stance of Imam Hussain (AS) in the face of tyranny remains a guiding light for Muslims around the world.
He urged the nation to follow in footprints of Imam Hussain (AS) which is the only way to counter the threats posed by external enemies and oppressors. He also highlighted the oppression faced by the people of Palestine and illegally Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and called on the Muslim Ummah to move forward in unity to support the oppressed and uphold justice.
He said that the month of Muharram also serves as a reminder to uphold respect for sacred Islamic figures and teachings. He urged the people to avoid any speech or behavior that could insult the revered companions of the Prophet (Peace be upon him), his caliphs, Umm-ul-Momineen and Ahl-e-Bait (May Allah please with them).
He also stressed the need to adhere to “Paigham-e-Pakistan”. This is a code of conduct issued by the government and it can help ensure peaceful observances throughout the holy month, he added.
He also urged religious speakers and orators to refrain from provocative speeches during Muharram. He advised the youth to adopt positive attitudes and avoid sharing objectionable content on social media.
He said that scholars and preachers have a crucial role to play in promoting an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect during Ashura commemorations.
He said that love for Ahl-e-Bait is an integral part of Islamic faith and Imam Hussain (AS) has proved himself as an unmatched model for all Muslims. His perseverance and courage symbolized the true spirit of Islam and his martyrdom continues to illuminate the path of righteousness for generations to come, he added.
