Muzaffargarh on flood alert as Chenab river rises

MULTAN, Aug 28 (APP):Muzaffargarh has been placed on flood alert as a moderate-level flood wave in the Chenab River is expected to pass through the district on Friday (August 30),Deputy Commissioner Usman Tahir announced on Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference alongside District Police Officer (DPO) Ghazanfar Ali Shah, the Deputy Commissioner warned that a powerful flash flood carrying 700,000 to 800,000 cusecs of water was likely to impact parts of the district within the next 48 hours.
He cautioned that the flood wave may intensify as it moves downstream and urged residents, particularly those in low-lying and riverine areas, to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures.
To support those at risk, 18 flood relief camps have been established along the Chenab River, offering shelter, food, and medical assistance.
The Deputy Commissioner urged people living near the river to evacuate immediately along with their livestock and belongings.
